5 Skincare Tips for Fall

1

Fall has arrived! The leaves are changing color and falling to the ground and the weather is noticeably cooler. While we might be anxious for a change from our hot September and October months, cooler weather means drier skin and drier skin means it’s time to start thinking about taking care of our skin. While it may be easier to cover up with layer: jeans, boots, long sleeve shirts, ignoring your skin during the colder months will only make rejuvenating it in the spring that much more difficult. Set a side time in your morning and evening routine to keep your skin hydrated during the fall and winter months.

Here are Five great ways to do that:

ONE: Exfoliate and Moisturize!! While you might be tempted to take long, hot showers because it’s cold out, we recommend a shorter luke warm shower, use that great exfoliator to remove dry skin, towel dry and moisturize right away. The hot heat of the water will only dry out your skin because the air is cold, therefore, making it more difficult to stay moisturized, so while it’s tempting, we challenge you to turn the temperature down a little. Then be sure to find a great cream to lotion up after your shower! We’ve recommended a few exfoliators and moisturizers below.

TWO: Repair Sun Damage! We tend to spend a lot of time in the sun during the summer, now it’s time repair any damage the sun has caused and treat those brown spots. Even if you haven’t noticed them yet, now is still a good time to make sure you’re treating your face for any potential damage in hopes of not dealing with sun spots in the future. Target has a great mask that’s easy to use in your nightly routine that helps minimize sun damage.

THREE: Protect your Lips! Be sure to keep chapstick in your purse and apply throughout the day. We recommend one with a sunscreen in it as sun plus cold weather and breezes don’t mix well. Be sure to take the time a couple evenings a week to exfoliate your lips too! That will help minimize chapped lips.

FOUR: Keep Using Sunscreen! While the rest of your body will be covered and protected, your face isn’t, so be sure to keep applying sunscreen during the fall and winter months. This can be in the form of a tinted moisturizer with SPF or your favorite face sunscreen.

FIVE: Invest in Hand Cream! Always, always, always keep a good hand cream in your purse or car, or both! Our skin dries out so quickly in the cold weather, be on the offense and apply a good hand lotion throughout the day and it’ll make all the difference.
