Changing Your Skincare Routine for Fall
Each season brings new challenges to your skin. A skincare routine that works for the summer doesn’t mean it will work well for the fall. It’s important to reevaluate your skincare regimen every 3-4 months to ensure it addresses your skin needs during that season. If it doesn’t help you, put it away. You don’t want to overload your routine with a bunch of products that your skin doesn’t need. How do you adjust your regimen for fall? Check out our tips below:
1. Lower SPF
Most people think that once summer ends, they don’t need SPF anymore. That’s not true. UV rays are here all year round, which means you need to wear SPF all year round. But you don’t have to wear the same SPF during the summer as the fall. I like to switch to Olay® Complete All Day Moisture SPF 15 Skin Cream during the cooler season.
2. A Thicker Moisturizing Night Cream
Towards middle of fall, the temperature drops significantly and it gets quite windy during the day. This will leave your skin dry and flaky. To protect your skin, switch your night cream to a thicker, more moisturizing cream. Your skin will thank you for nourishing it with hydration! We recommend using Aveeno Ultra-Calming Nourishing Night Cream. It soothes irritated dry skin and helps restore skin’s protective moisture barrier overnight, giving you hydrated and healthy looking skin.
3. Add A Serum
Serums are a great addition to a skincare routine, especially during the cooler months, when your skin is more prone to dryness. We particularly like day serums for all-day hydration. One ingredient we look out for is hyaluronic acid, which is known to absorb and retain water. Water is vital to keeping our skin soft, supple and glowing – so the more we have, the better. Our pick is Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum. It’s the best bang for your buck!
4. Exfoliate with a Scrub
Our skin sheds dead cells all the time and they sit at the surface of the skin. Exfoliating will wash away these dead cells, leaving you with clean, healthy skin. This shouldn’t be done daily because it can irritate your skin and cause breakouts. Instead, use it once or twice a week in the morning. We like to exfoliate our lips with elf Lip Exfoliator, our face with St. Ives Blemish Control Face Scrub Apricot and our body with Raw Sugar Pineapple, Maqui Berry and Coconut Body Scrub.
