Chapped Lips Be Gone!
As the cooler weather starts settling in, and the air becomes dry, our lips are more prone to getting chapped. Chapsticks are awesome but for truly soft, hydrated, beautiful lips we suggest a couple other ways to pamper your lips this fall.
Exfoliate: This may seem counter-intuitive, but exfoliating your lips helps remove dead skin and brings out a fresh new layer, which with help make your lips soft and smooth. And remember, when your lips are smooth lipsticks, lip liners, and lip gloss will adhere better and longer on your lips.
Protect Your Lips When You Wash Your Face: Chances are your facial cleanser is actually drying out your lips. Before washing your face apply a protective balm to your lips. Common ingredients in facial cleanser such as salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide can cause chapping.
Almond Oil is Your Friend: Monounsaturated fatty acids as well as a large amount of vitamin E and other vitamins, such as B and PP, make almond oil a great choice for lip care. Almond oil helps get rid of wind-blown and scaly lips. And vitamin B2 in almond oil is of much help for treating cracked corners of the mouth.
Petroleum Jelly Never Goes Out of Style: Vaseline lip therapy is super moisturizing and also very affordable. Vaseline locks in moisture and protects the lips from cold, dry air.
Butter ‘Em Up: Shea butter is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It offers UV protection (it is SPF ~6) and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production.
