DIY Gardening Fun With Kids

We go to Target all the time and I mean ALL the time.  Our kiddos love to participate in the shopping and we find ourselves spending a great deal of time in the arts and craft aisles.  Recently, we grabbed a few fun things the create some DIY gardening fun with kids.  It all started in the Dollar Spot where we found adorable instant seed planters.  Our girls were excited about them and wanted to do more things for our upcoming spring garden so we headed to that favorite aisle to see what we could find.

We totally hit the jackpot, finding everything we needed to create an adorable hand painted garden sign.  By painting two coats of the black chalkboard paint, adding a word in white (along with some dots) and then adding color, we had a masterpiece.  Once it was totally (like a few hours later) dry, we added a thick coat of Mod Podge to it.  Ta Da!

The instant planters are so much fun.  We followed the directions and got the seeds all planted.  Because we can’t stop creating, we cut the pictures from the packaging and made garden picks to remember what is planted in which pot.

We even grabbed a bucket in the Dollar Spot, painted it and planted grass seed from the yard projects happening.

Crafting and gardening are so great for kids.  Creating projects that include seeds and growth offer an on-going opportunity to bond and connect with your children.  We check the pots every morning and get so excited with the changes.  Target has so many options for planting and creating.  You can plant seeds in mugs, jars, pots and bowls.

If you create a gardening project, be sure to share it on social media with #targetmademedoit so we can check it out.  Cheers to creating with kiddos!
