Easy Kid Friendly Caramel Apples
Fall season is the best season! We love making yummy Fall treats in our home around this time of year. One thing we love making is carmel apples, they are easy to make because kids can help and get involved in the process. The only thing about carmel apples is that they can be a bit messy to eat and sometimes a full apple can be difficult for littles ones to bite and eat without making an entire mess. I’ve found a trick to make them even more kid friendly, let me show you how!
Here’s what you’ll need for supplies; 6 apples, Kraft individual caramels, wax paper, baking sheet, sprinkles of choice.
You can get your kids involved by letting them unwrap the caramels and put them into a bowl. To melt the caramels you’ll eat them for 30 seconds, stir and repeat until the caramel is all melted. Don’t be tempted to turn up the heat on the caramel or it’ll explode in the microwave. Trust me, wink, wink!
My trick to making them kid-friendly is to cut the apples in half. Little kids can pick up an apple half easier and bite into it much easier as well. Then you’ll want to drizzle the melted caramel on top and add sprinkles if you’d like. I ended up doing half with and half without for those in my home who don’t like sprinkles.
Let them cool and dry completely before serving, this will allow the caramel to harden as well. If you have leftovers you can put them into the fridge but you’ll want them to be at room temperature before serving again or the carmel will break off from the cold.
Serve with yummy coffee or cider at your next play date or enjoy at home with your family! What are some of your Fall treats you like to make or bake? Tell me in the comments below.
