Kids DIY Garden Stakes
What’s the best way to get rid of the Winter blues? How about prep for Spring? This fun little project we are going to share today is one that you and the kids will both enjoy! We’re going to show you how to make kids DIY garden stakes using a few simple crafts, from you guessed it, Target! So, grab your shopping list and jot these goodies down for you to pick up on your next trip to Target!
You can find all of the supplies for today’s project in the craft and party section of your local Target store! First things first, find the wooden gift tags, which come in a 10 count. Next, pick out your favorite pack of paper straws. In the next isle or two, you will find the acrylic paint with tons of color options! Pick a couple of those and while you’re there, grab a pack of the foam brushes! For the lettering we used alphabet stamps with brown ink, so if you don’t have any of those at home, you will need those too. If you wish to substitute the stamps, you can simply write using a paint pen!
A tip of advice is to put down a plastic tablecloth or old sheet so the kids don’t get paint everywhere. You can thanks us later 😉 From here it’s pretty simple! Take your wooden gift tags and cut off the jute string attached. Paint each tag your desired color. As you can see, we opted for cherry blossom pink, cornflower blue and lavender. Perfect Spring-y colors! Allow your tags to dry completely.
Using your alphabet stamps and ink (or paint pen if you opted for that), spell out each herb or vegetable you will be planting this Spring. We labeled herbs, cilantro, basil and even made one for fresh flowers! The kids will have fun spelling out their favorite veggies on their tags! To keep ink in place, spray with a clear top coat. Last but not least, using a heated glue gun, glue your tag to your decorative paper straw and voila! Just like that, you have an adorable DIY garden stake!
We absolutely cannot wait to add these cuties to our garden this Spring!
