Leprechaun Hat Treat Box

The pot at the end of the rainbow may be filled with gold, but these fun Leprechaun Hat Treat Boxes are full of the best kind of surprises. Treats! These easy little containers come together in just a few minutes and will minimal supplies. They are the perfect craft to make with your little ones this St. Patrick’s Day!

You will need:

Mark the green paper three inches from the bottom of the longer side. Cut the entire length of the paper so you have one long strip that is 3 inches x 12 inches. Roll the long piece of paper until it forms a tube. If you have never done this before, you can roll it on a toilet paper roll to help get the right shape. Add hot glue to the edge so it will stay.

Cut another strip the length of the paper out of black construction paper. This one will only be about a quarter of an inch high. Cut a circle out of your leftover green construction paper. We usually use a small children’s bowl as a template for this circle.

Add a thin line of glue all around the bottom edge of tube and glue it to the green circle.

Add a line of glue around the bottom of the tube where it meets the green circle and secure the black construction paper to the bottom of the hat, trim the excess. Cut a small rectangle piece of yellow paper and then cut out the center of the rectangle. This is your buckle. Add a little hot glue to the back of the buckle and secure it over the black trim on the hat.

That’s it, your hat is ready to be filled with gold coins and rainbow treats.

What would you find in your leprechaun hat?
