Low Impact Workouts To Do With Your Sweetheart
Low impact couple work outs can be a great way to stick to a routine and share quality time with your significant other. Over the years my husband and I have done many exercise routines at home and classes together from pilates, yoga, krav maga and more.
Target has great products that can help you and your partner stay fit together. Here are a few ideas to get you started! Of course, you should always check with your doctor before starting any exercise routine, but you already knew that.
Target has a great assortment of exercise balls to choose from. They are great for helping to increase stability and your core. Just sitting on the ball alone while watching tv is a workout in itself. Here are some other ideas for working out with an exercise ball:
Hold the ball with your arms reached out in front of you and swinging it side to side while you step to the left and right will help increase your heart rate. Do this for 10 reps each side.
Stand back to back with your partner and pass the ball to each other from the left to the right, making sure to stay back to back the entire time. Do 10 reps each side. (pass the ball on the right, twist to the left and grab it, repeat)
Still standing back to back with your partner, lift the ball over your head, let your partner grab it, bring it down in front of them, then lift it and hand it to you overhead. Repeat for 10 reps each.
Hamstring workout – While lying on the floor with your arms stretched out at your side in a T position, rest your heels and calves on the ball. Lift your hips up while holding your stomach in. Inhale while you lift your hips and roll the ball away from you and exhale while you bring your knees in toward you, rolling the ball toward you. Do about 10 reps. Trust me, you will feel this one.
Lie down on your back and hold the stability ball with your feet. Let your partner lie down in front of you with their feet touching yours. Lift the ball with your legs and place it back down on the ground. Allow your partner to do the same. Take turns doing this for 10 reps each.
If stability balls aren’t your thing, try exercise bands. They are lightweight, easy to transport and give you a great resistance workout!
Here are a couple of resistance band exercise ideas to do with your partner:
Take your band and hold it on one end making sure the band is on the same side, Let your partner hold the other end. Face each other and walk backward until the band is extended normally with a little tension. Slightly bend your knees. Bend your elbows 90 degrees. Now take turns slowly pulling the band back, using your triceps to pull it away from your partner. Do 10 reps each side.
Stand next to each other looking forward. Each of you should hold the band with your outside hand and adjust the band until there is a little tension on it. Bend your arm 90 degrees in front of you as if it were in a cast. Now, at the same time, rotate your arm outward while keeping the elbow bent and touching your side the entire time. It is important that you keep that elbow touching your side. Do 10 reps each side.
These are just a few exercise ideas for you and your partner. Work together to create more exercises that work for you!
These simple exercises will help give you a good stretch and workout and allow you to spend quality time with your sweetheart.
