Target August Beauty Box Review
We’re always looking to explore the latest beauty products on the market – Target Beauty Box allows us to do just that! This monthly subscription is only $7 per box and comes with a variety of sample & full sized products. As beauty junkies and Target shoppers, we felt like it’d be a miss if we didn’t review it. This month’s theme is all about getting back into a routine, which is extremely fitting. We love being out and about with friends on the beach, sailing along the river, biking in the park, etc that by the time we get home, we’re so tired that we forget to take our makeup off. Ick, I know, but it happens! We think this box will help steer us back on course. Let’s take a look:
Up and Up Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes – $3.84; FULL SIZE
Makeup wipes are amazing. If you don’t have the time to go through your entire skincare routine, use one of these wipes instead. They’re pretty effective at wiping away most of your makeup, leaving your skin clean. Go camping a lot during the summer? Take these with you! If you don’t have ready access to a bathroom or showers, these are also a great way to clean yourself when you’re in a pinch.
We tested out the makeup wipes, swabbing liquid eyeshadow, eyeliner, lipstick and glitter liner onto our hands to see if they would remove the makeup effectively. After one wipe, majority of the makeup wiped off. The gel liner was a bit more stubborn, but came off easily with a few more swipes. The cleansing towelettes felt nice against my skin and didn’t have an overpowering scent like many others do. These also work well on sensitive skin!
Herbal Essences Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo – $.67, SAMPLE ($5.99 Full Size)
Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser – $1.28, SAMPLE ($5.99 Full Size)
Most don’t like samples because of their small size, but personally we love them! One, because they’re great for traveling. They don’t take up that much space in your suitcase, plus you don’t have to check a bag with samples (a lot can fit in a quart-sized bag)! Second, they’re great to try. If you don’t love them, you’re not committed to a full sized product. They only last about 3-5 uses, so you can throw them away and move on to something else. We have a few trips coming soon, so these will get packed!
Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strip – $.57, SAMPLE 1 ct ($7.99 Full Size)
SpaLife Nourishing Orange Facial Mask – $2.49, FULL SIZE
Oh, this limited edition Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strip is fun! Love the pattern on it. Who knew unclogging pores could look so cute? We’re also excited to see a face mask in this box. Facial masks are a great way to unhind, especially when you’re having a spa-day-at-home. We just had to rip it up and try it out!
Totally aware that I look scary haha. The mask was surprisingly thick. It felt about twice as thick as a normal mask – which is very rare. The thickness hindered the effectiveness of the product. It didn’t feel like there was a lot of serum on the mask and I didn’t feel like the product was absorbing into my skin either. I also noticed that it was hard for the mask to stay on my face. You can see in the photo that the edges of the sheet mask aren’t completely on my face, but hanging off slightly. The smell is nice and the packaging is cute, but I’ve tried better masks at the same price.
Dove Dry Spray Invisible Antiperspirant – $5.49, FULL SIZE
We are thrilled to see this product in this box, let alone the full sized version of it! After seeing the commercials, we were intrigued. Will this product be invisible on our clothes like they show? From our experiences with deodorant/antiperspirant, we were a little skeptical. We tried it out – it felt clean and dried pretty quickly. You don’t feel residue or film left behind at all. There’s a scent to the antiperspirant as well, but it’s by no means overwhelming. It smells like you’ve just come out of the shower.
Of course, we couldn’t say this product was effective without putting the “invisible spray” to the test. We sprayed the Dove product all over a black shirt and guess what? Nothing’s there! We sprayed a few more times to make sure and still, nada. What a nice surprise! We feel a little more at ease knowing that we don’t have to worry about deodorant stains the next time we put on a shirt.
Overall, we think the box is a success! We received 3 full sized items and 3 samples in the August box. In total, the value is $14.34, which is twice what we paid. If you love trying new skincare products, we recommend getting this month’s box. It has a pretty good variety (wipes, strips, cleansers, etc) at a great price. Plus, Target also included a coupon – $3 off your next $15 beauty/personal care purchase!
Have you tried Target Beauty Box yet? What are your thoughts on this month’s box?
