BEGIN BY:
Step 1: Iron your canvas bag to remove any fold lines or creases. If you’re using a straw tote you can omit this step.
Step 2: Fold printed template along dotted lines. Cut our heart shapes.
Step 3: Peel off backing a press firmly on bag.
Step 4: Mix pink paint into the white adding a little at a time until desired color is achieved.
Step 5: Add fabric medium following manufacturer labeled instructions. Martha Stewart Crafts Fabric Medium uses a ratio of 1 part medium to 2 parts paint.
Step 6: Sparingly dip pouncer into paint. Blot off extra onto scrap paper or paper plate. Apply lightly using and up and down “pouncing” motion. Avoid overloading your areas with too much paint.
Step 7: Remove stencil while paint is still wet. Dry thoroughly according to manufacturer’s recommendations before using.
Try experimenting with different colors to create a vibrant rainbow effect. You could even mix in a little metallic paint for a bag that really shines. Target also has a great line of stencils that would allow you to personalize your bag and give it your own unique style. No matter what design you choose to create you’ll do it spending time with the ones you love, the perfect way to celebrate the season.
