Winter Skincare Routine
Skincare is so important, especially during the colder months. With the drop in temperature, cold wind chills and dry air, it’s important to update your skincare routine to match the change in temperature. What you used last season might not be enough. Not sure how to change your skincare routine? No problem! Read on for my simple skincare routine for winter:
Morning Routine
First, I like to start off my mornings with a serum. After I wash my face in the morning, I reach for Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum. The product really hydrates the dry areas of my face. This targets the areas that need it most. I love the way my skin feels after I apply the serum. It’s so smooth!
The next thing I do is layer on my moisturizer. I need these two layers because my skin dries out during winter and this is the only way to keep it hydrated. My morning moisturizer is Aveeno® Positively Radiant® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 30. This product feels so light, but it packs a hydrating punch AND has UV protection. Many people tend to forget the UV protection during winter, but it is still very important.
Finally, I finish my morning with the No7 Youthful Eye Serum. The skin under your eyes is the most sensitive part of your face, so take care of it! I keep mine soft & hydrated with this treatment.
Night Routine
This is when I take care of the rest of my body. The beginning of the day is mostly focused on my face because that’s what gets exposed to the elements most of the time. Even though I’m wearing a hood or a hat, it doesn’t fully cover my face and it still bears the 30 mph wind chill. After a rough day, I like to come home, take a shower and apply my Suave Body Lotion, Smoothing with Cocoa Butter and Shea. This lotion works wonders on my skin and I notice an immediate glow once I apply it. During the winter, I moisturize my entire body, focusing on the dry areas like elbows, knees and ankles.
For my hair, I like using the SheaMoisture 100% Pure Argan Oil. The argan oil doesn’t irritate my scalp and it gives my hair a nice shine and feel to it. I focus mainly on my scalp and my roots so I can avoid dandruff as much as possible.
Finally, the last step in my routine is a hydrating moisturizer. I like Olay Regenerist Deep Hydration Regenerating Cream Face Moisturizer – it’s a little thicker than the gel cream, which is nice when I’m going to sleep. I can lather it on and leave that layer on my face all night for 8 hour hydration.
